Dr. Thomas Molloy graduated from Stanford University and received his medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School. Following his residencies at the University of Arizona, Dr. Molloy practiced cardiothoracic surgery in Portland, Oregon with Northwest Surgical Associates. After serving as the Surgery Division Chief for Legacy Portland Hospitals for eight years, Dr. Molloy moved his practice to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington. There he served as the Chief of cardiothoracic surgery for the Franciscan Health System. He recently returned to Portland as the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery here at Adventist Medical Center. Dr. Molloy also serves as the director of Robotic Cardiac Surgery at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Heart Surgery Experience
As primary surgeon, Dr. Molloy has performed more than 3500 open-heart procedures including more than 1300 valve procedures. He regularly performs minimally-invasive robotic-assisted surgeries that can help patients achieve better outcomes. Dr. Molloy is an authority on robotic-assisted procedures, often giving lectures on new advances in minimally-invasive robotic heart surgery.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Molloy enjoys cross country skiing competing regularly in regional and international masters competitions. He is an avid pilot, cyclist, mountaineer and fly fisherman. Most of all he enjoys spending time with his wife Andrea and four daughters.
